AgeLab Research Scientists Bryan Reimer and Pnina Gershon were participants in SAE International's 2021 Government/Industry Digital Summit, a forum for both government agency representatives and automotive industry professionals to come together to discuss the changing regulations for safety, emission control, and energy conservation in the automotive industry.
Dr. Reimer participated in the Summit as a panelist in a technical session titled Leveling Up: The Path to Increased Driver Assistance, a conversation about ongoing, parallel paths to widespread deployment and increased levels of driver assistance, from SAE level 0 to level 5, and whether higher levels of automation translate to improved driver safety.
Dr. Gershon’s gave a talk at the Summit titled “The Use of Partial-Automation and How it Shapes Driver Behavior.” This presentation was part of the Hands On: Driving Automation Today technical session, which focused on further development and deployment of crash avoidance technologies and SAE Level 1 and 2 vehicle automation systems.
